About this cartoon: President Obama has been promoting a another massive international trade agreement that he and various business interests claim will strengthen America's hand in world commerce. Perhaps, but the details of the pact are being kept very murky, even to members of Congress, and there are some very toxic provisions that could override U.S. laws on worker safety, food safety, environmental standards and other important issues. There would even be unelected tribunals that could rule on a corporation's being limited by such laws and determine the corporation profits would be harmed, and potentially compel the U.S. to pay billions in compensation, with no other recourse for the nation. Corporate interests are writing much of this trade pact... how convenient.
